The reading for Thursday, December 28, 2023 , is Revelation 20- 22

 This morning, 2 friends and I met to complete our reading through the Bible in 2023. We each read a chapter. Unfortunately, I had to leave abruptly to get to work in time. Still, I found it a beautiful and meaningful way to end. 

It has been to difficult to keep up with reading/listening and blogging both. I prefer to lay in bed and listen to the Bible, but I can't blog laying down. I got behind in reading/listening and blogging. It was easier to catch up with the reading/listening than the blogging. The blog didn't go how I had hoped. I would have liked more discussion. I wish I hadn't been so behind in the New Testament, that I rarely made a substantial comment. Still, I'd' wanted to do this. I'm glad I did it.

 Today's reading:  Genesis 9 - 11 God's covenant with Noah, Noah's drunkenness, the the table of Noah's sons' descendants, the Tower of Babel, Shem's family line, Abram's family Here we see the first rainbow!  I have always been puzzled and troubled by Noah's response to Ham's seeing him naked. I don't see it as that big of deal. Is it because Ham told his brothers instead of fixing the situation himself? I can see that it's embarrassing for Noah, but he's still the one who got himself into that situation. I am also deeply saddened to think how these few verses have been used to justify the enslavement of persons of color.

The reading for Tuesday, February 7, 2023 , is Numbers 7 - 9

Numbers 7 - 9   Although I find the listing of what each tribe brought to the tabernacle dry reading, I do note that each tribe brought exactly the same thing. It's fair. I am also curious about how they decided which tribe presented on which day. It's not by age and it doesn't say.  I am also struck by a celebration lasting 12 days. What celebration in our culture lasts 12 days? None that I can think of. The longest thing I can think of in our culture is the county fair which lasts for a week.  I continue to remind myself that all of these offerings speak to the holiness of God and a greater understanding, albeit it a nanoparticle, of the import of Jesus' death on the cross.
